S. D. Janakiram Janakiram has done his B.E. (Mechanical) in 1968 and has Post Graduate Diplomas in Finance ‘93 & HRM ’96 He Joined HAL in January 1969 as a Management Trainee, underwent a year of training at British Aerospace in Quality Assurance and became a member of detail project team for planning & executing Jaguar production. He went on to become the Chief of Quality of Aircraft Division. During that period, he coordinated quality and systems improvements at the company level and institutionalized Quality Circles in all the HAL divisions at Bangalore. For a year he was responsible for assembly of Kiran jet trainer aircraft. Later, as DGM (Quality) at Helicopter Design Bureau and LCA (Design Complex) he led the India team for QA of Composite Wing manufacturing of LCA. He was also an auditor for ISO 9000 certification. Janakiram served as Principal of HAL (now, HAL Management Academy) Corporate training centre for over five years and is qualified as trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming from NFNLP (USA). He pioneered NLP training in HAL and was General Manager (P&A) of HAL, Corporate for a year. He has been formally trained in conducting Gemba Kaizen, one week long full time cross functional shop floor improvement activities, at Boeing and Goodrich in USA & IAI in Israel. As General Manager (Lean) at HAL Corporate Office from February 2004 onwards he was responsible for company wide implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies and worked closely with Director- HR and Lean Consultants. With his expertise in 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Policy Deployment and all the other Lean tools and techniques practiced in manufacturing environments, he has conducted a number of week long Kaizen improvement events for cycle time improvement, lead time reduction and flow improvement. He has designed & imparted a number of training programmes on various aspects of Lean Management for HAL executives and employees. Janakiram is a life member of dozen professional bodies for more than three decades in various capacities. He has presented a Paper on Non Destructive Elevation of Self at 15th World Conference of NDT at Rome, Italy, Oct, 2000. He also presented a Paper on HRD BEAMS (People are 4 dimensional beings-Body, Emotion, Mind & Intellect) at Asian HRD Conference, Bangalore Oct,2002 Having had formal training in Transcendental Meditation, Pranic Healing, Magnified Healing, Bio-Energy and Spiritual Healing, Janakiram practices spiritual healing in his spare time. |
