| Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme |

The Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (DC-MSME), Government of India will implement the Lean Manufacturing Scheme (the Scheme), for the benefit of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) during the 11th Plan Period. The objective of the Scheme is to enhance the manufacturing competitiveness of MSMEs through the application of various Lean Manufacturing (LM) techniques. The general approach involves engagement of Lean Manufacturing Consultants (LMC) to work with selected MSME’s in the chosen clusters with financial support by the Government. A maximum of 80% of the project cost for each cluster will be borne by the Government. The assistance would be limited to the first year, of the Scheme, which would cover 100 Mini Clusters (approximately 10 MSMEs per cluster), spread all over the country. The scheme requires any 10 manufacturing companies belonging to MSME sector to come together, form a SPV, raise 20% of the consulting fee on their own and apply to GOI, MSME using the forms in the following document: As the scheme requires identification of 9 other companies apart from yours, LMII will be able to help if either such companies have already contacted us, or are in touch with your company with the idea of forming a cluster. As of now LMII has faculty at Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi, but is in a position to quickly add faculty as required under this programme. |
