A value stream is all the actions, both value added and non value added, currently required to complete a product or service from beginning to end.

Terms Used In a Value Stream Map:

P/T: Process Time

  • Time spent actually performing the work of the process.
    • Hands on time
    • Touch time
    • Value creating time

D/T: Delay Time

  • Can be during the process (step)
    • Waiting for a call back
  • Can be in between process (step)
    • Sitting in an inbox

L/T: Lead time = Process time + Delay time

  • Start time to Finish time
%C/A: % Complete and Accurate
